Military Accordionist Required

| | Comments (3)

So you think it's difficult to fill an organist post? Try looking for an accordionist for the US Air Force. You'd have to be under age 35, fit their weight and fitness requirements, be able to get a security clearance, and endure six weeks of rigorous basic training. Not a bad gig for being part of the 22-member Strolling Strings ensemble, which entitles members all the benefits of being in the military.

I think I would rather be a military bugler.

OK ... let's see ... first, the age requirement -- no way! Waved bye-bye to 35 years ago ... then the fitness requirements. it is to laugh! Still trying to convert from life-long sedentariness (?) to mild activity. Never thought of my organist job as cushy, but compared to the USAF, it sure sounds that way. Good luck to the applicant(s)... the Schwarzenegger of accordionists!

From what I've heard - Air Force basic training is a walk in the park (but then again, I heard this from a Marine who's brother is in the Air Force...)
